The Battery Box Mod greatly improves battery performance. It modifies Piper Metal Battery Boxes to eliminate the braided straps and ground connections known for heat generating, high resistance connection.
Hard starting and other electrical problems can often be tracked back to poor battery and group connections. Use this inexpensive mod with a new positive and negative cable if your battery box is still mechanically sound.
The Battery Box Mod comes with templates to make the cut outs so it’s very easy to do. The modification also includes the u-shaped flanges a cover plate to seal the old insulator hole and rivets. The flanges accommodate Bogert’s "Low Loss" Copper cables and the entire flange slides in and out of the slots making access to the battery quick and easy. Paperwork includes the FAA/PMA approved STC SA4008NM, AML, Instructions and a sample 337 form entry.
Take a moment to consider changing the positive and negative battery cables in the existing box. They have been there quite a while, and likely, due for replacement. If so, please see Battery Box Mod with Cables. This is the best option if you are planning to purchase the "Low Loss" Cable Kit at the same time.
