    Sluggish starter cranking

    Have had poor cranking performance on my C185 for quite a while. Tried batteries, Starters, and nothing really seemed to help until a neighbor of mine told me of his same issue with his 180, and bogert cable change. I put the bogert cables on, and now it’s like never before. Awesome! Couldn’t be better.

    Could be much better

    While all the cables were there and the correct lengths, the terminal ends were not clocked correctly for attachment to their respective terminal posts in the various systems. Example: the long battery cable to the starter contactor, the terminal on the contactor end should be clocked approx. 90-degrees relative to the other end of the cable, as it requires you to 'twist' the cable to get the terminal to easily attach to the contactor stud. Similar for the cable that goes between the starter contactor and the APU contactor on the firewall, this cable is shorter and much less capable of being 'twisted' to get the terminal to attach to the contactor. A little more thought in the manufacturing process (clocking of the terminal ends) should be put into this and this would be an excellent (and much easier) project.

    The Bogert Aviation cable kits do 'clock' the terminals where we have data to support it. Typically it is the shorter cables that need clocking.
