I could have been KILLED!

People ask me, "Why did you build that?" It's simple. I needed it or I wanted to make work easier and more productive. Sometimes you have to ask yourself if the way thing were done for 100 years still make since.
A true story by Richard Bogert
I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! I was working on the main gear struts of a Cessna 414. The jacks were at full extension to get the plane high enough. I had been sitting on the floor next to the strut. The tire had been removed. I leaned over to grab a tool and BOOM! I was knocked flat to the floor. It sounded like a shotgun had gone off beside me. For a moment, I didn’t realize what had happened. The jack had failed, and the aircraft dropped suddenly and completely without any warning. The jack was fully compressed. There was no warning and it was instantaneous. Thankfully the aircraft jack point stayed on the jack and there was no damage to the airplane but if I had been sitting upright as I had been, I would have been severely injured and likely killed. I became extremely careful with jacks after my near miss. The 16M-PSF makes working on struts a lot safer because the mechanic does not have to be under the aircraft for strut servicing and it is safer for the airplane because it never goes on jacks. Have some piece of mind and increase your profits at the same time.
