To Boldly go where no man has gone before.

 Voyager 1

”To boldly go where no man has gone before”. The Voyage Spacecraft has been doing a fine job. This satellite was launched in 1977 to fly by Jupiter and Saturn, but it has done much more than that. It has been transmitting data back to earth for 47 years as it is shooting through space at a speed of more than 38,000 miles per hour. Recently, the transmitter had some sort of failure and quit transmitting. It astounding that there was a backup transmitter on board that hadn’t been used since 1981. This transmitter is not as powerful but it switched on and it is sending signals back to earth.

It is amazing that a tiny transmitter of only a few watts can still reach us from more than 15 billion miles away. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory made some good stuff.
